Growing up in New Jersey, my dad thought it was the perfect location to travel up north to Canada every summer and take a few drives south to Florida every few winters. My mom will fall asleep almost immediately as my brother and sister played on their respective gameboys, but I’d sit outside and just stare at horizon in front of us. Unbeknownst to my dad, he conceived a traveler and every year, my whole body itches to replicate the drive through the hills and valleys of Upstate New York and smell the salt of the ocean along the East Coast.
“Abroad and local” comes from my desire to learn about the different cultures the world has to offer and also to discover the places I have yet to explore in my very own backyard (I am using this term very loosely). So, every Thursday, I will post about my own adventures and try to tell stories that will inspire you to travel there as well.
I’ve traveled to three continents and 13 countries, but for the most part, I’ll be posting about my future adventures. This is mainly because I was a pretty crappy photographer for the past four or five years, and my last trip to India is when I finally started getting it right! All of my current pictures on the site were taken by me using my Sony alpha-6000 mirrorless camera, with the exception of my pictures from India and Portugal which were used with a high-quality P&S. So hopefully, pictures (along with my words) will inspire you to come along with me as I explore abroad and locally.
Traveling is the best way to learn. It broadens your mind, brightens your soul, and builds so much courage. I never thought I’d have the guts to trek through India on my own or rent a car in Spain without dying (and this is just really because I’m a bad driver!). So, feel free to follow my blog and comment on posts you love and ones you may not love as much.
